The more successful I became, the more tenacious were the demands placed upon me. Although passionate about the work itself, I sometimes felt alone and isolated, an imposter waiting to be exposed. I made it through by whatever means necessary—reading management books, listening to podcasts, talking to other managers about what worked and what didn’t, pure trial and error— but it wasn’t until I started meeting with a coach that I was able to unhook from unproductive thought patterns and behavior and truly devote myself to my growth as a professional and an individual.
